Mariela Nestora

Mariela Nestora was born in Athens. Choreographer, performer, Feldenkrais practitioner & movement director for theatre. She founded YELP danceco. In London and is now based in Athens, creating works and collaborating with many different artists over the past years.

 

She studied contemporary dance and choreography at the London Contemporary Dance School. Before studying dance she did Biology (B.Sc., Queen Mary and Westfield, London) and Human Molecular Genetics (M.Sc. St.Mary’s Medical School, Imperial College, London). As movement director she has worked with many theatre directors in Athens presenting works at the National theatre, the Ancient theatre of Epidaurus and others. She has taught movement for actors at the Experimental Stage of the Greek National Theatre.

 

She has been choreographing and performing

for stage, creating site specific, public space projects, video dance works and instigating platforms like Collective Choreography Project CCP and ‘from stage to page’ on the Greek dance scene. YELP danceco has presented work in UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Italy, Estonia, Romania, Slovenia, Croatia, Greece and their latest production was presented at the Athens Festival 2016.
