Fernando Solis
Dr. Fernando León Solís is Head of Languages at the University of the West of Scotland and Senior Lecturer in Spanish. He graduated in English Language and Literature at Granada University in Spain and was later awarded a PhD at Glasgow Caledonian University in 2001. He is the Joint Editor of the International Journal of Iberian Studies. His research expertise falls in the field of Cultural Studies, with a special focus on the construction of national identities in the media.
He is the author of a book entitled Negotiating Spain: Competing Discourses of National Identity and was published in 2003 by Intellect. He has presented a number of papers in international conferences and published extensively in peer-reviewed academic journals.
He is a contributor to the Viajeros Urbanos section of the Spanish paper El Pais.
